Twitter algo experiments revealed
Many algo changes in the last months made things slow. We're back.
This week I was delighted to see that the twitter algo has changed again.
Look:
I hadn’t gotten a result like this in a while.
From what I can tell at this point 4 things seem to play a role:
getting bookmarks
a strong hook
no promo link below
the usual kickstarting
As you can see in the screenshot above, this tweet got even more bookmarks than likes. Which is rare.
To understand why this happened, here’s the full tweet:
I was focusing on creating content that evokes the feeling of “uh, I need this in my life and want to save it to come back later“ for my ICP.
It has a high density of knowledge and tactics, so of course you can neither implement this right away nor memorize everything and suddenly your life changes.
It takes time to make changes like this and having something you can refer to again and again can help you greatly. It’s kind of like a cheat sheet to stay on track.
And it was easy to create for me too, since it’s what I do and what is close to heart. It’s the lifestyle I created for myself over the past decade summarized in 20 sentences.
So here’s your action plan to create content like this for yourself:
ask yourself: what would help my ICP the most?
what has helped me the most?
what kind of summarized lists can I share that evoke the feeling of wanting to bookmark it because it’s so valuable?
then hop over to canva or your favorite design tool and turn it into a beautiful visual that is aligned with your brand.
No links
I also observed that if you put a promo tweet with a link below your main tweet, the main tweet won’t do as well.
I see about half the impressions on average when a link is present.
I was running some experiments in the last weeks with similar content visuals that contained quotes.
Here’s one with link below:
and one without:
Of course, this is kind of annoying, because we want to promote our landing pages, free lead magnets and products.
To fix that, I came up with the following ideas:
do a giveaway and send the link in the DMs
say hi to new followers and also send them a link if they want to (I wouldn’t send a link right away due to the risk of being marked as spam)
write the url directly into the visual
put your best url into your profile and put a CTA to click on the link in your profile into the visual
I’m experimenting with this right now to figure out which way works best. But I need more data to draw conclusions.
Last but not least
And of course, for any post to get reach properly, you need a strong network of friends who support you.
You’ve got 3 options for that which you can also combine:
build a network yourself and grow together (takes time)
kickstart your tweets in engagement groups (this can be automated with TweetHustler and is fast and easy to get going)
and/or take the shortcut and pay very big accounts to promote your content (= lay back and watch the show)
Luckily for you, I teamed up with some very good friends and we’ve got a combined network of multi-million followers.
We found a system that works to convert the traffic you get into followers and ultimately to leads. One of our first clients went from a few hundred followers to more than 10k now in less than 4 months. All organically.
You’ll also get help from us to optimize your profile and content to make sure your account grows.
We’re so confident that our systems work, that we’ll work for you until you reach your desired follower count. Note: not cheap.
Reply “grow“ to this email if you’re interested.
Have an amazing weekend,
Mira

Thank you for sharing this. I hadn't notice this change, but it is frustrating that you can't include links anymore. But maybe this is their way of encouraging more DM traffic.
